In 2009, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from Creighton University and served as a Human Resources Specialist in the Army National Guard for four years.
Meka began her professional journey as a Communications Specialist at the Better Business Bureau, where she focused on internal and external communications and new media campaigns. Since then, her work has mainly been devoted to community education and outreach. She has worked with non-profit organizations such as North Omaha Weed and Seed and Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs.
Meka worked as a Community Health Worker for four years, concentrating on at-risk populations to increase their health knowledge throughout underserved communities. She is currently employed with the Child Saving Institute's Family Empowerment Program, which aims to combat domestic violence through community outreach and training.
