The American Association of Pathologists' Assistants (AAPA) was founded in 1972 as a not-for-profit volunteer organization of allied health practitioners dedicated to the advocacy and advancement of the pathologists' assistant profession. The AAPA advocates, promotes and sustains the highest education and professional standards for the profession, for all associated educational training programs and for individual pathologists' assistants. It is our mission to provide our members with high quality, targeted continuing education (CE) opportunities, as well as professional development and leadership activities to include networking and support. (BOOTH # 307) The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office will promote medical examiner data modernization and fellowship recruitment. Our booth will focus on improved data systems and how it has positively impacted our office and increased efficiency. Our mission is to better understand the effects of traumatic brain injury and promote overall brain health of the warfighter. Using the best science, we support our service members and their families to help care for our military personnel after a head injury. Our scientists compare injured and uninjured brain tissue to better understand the effects of traumatic brain injury on brain health. We have discovered a unique scarring pattern that may explain post-blast symptoms like headache, memory issues, sleep problems, and post-traumatic stress.
